Hey friend!

Life is only here for a moment. And we can’t afford not to document it beautifully. Please carefully read through my core values and principles. We want to make sure that we are a good fit for before committing to working together.

Love,
Yan

The Art of Seeing

We capture the world as we each perceive it. When we take a photo, we say “yes” to something that moved our hearts and resonated with our souls. It’s something that we want to remember, and feel again. My heart is drawn to where the Holy Spirit is moving – and photography is my way of expressing how God sees His people. It’s the embodiment of my intimate friendship with Him. To see you as He sees you. My eyes can only see the physical realm, obviously, but His Spirit guides me to document the moments of intersection – the moments of Heaven touching Earth. That’s wedding photography to me.

Picture yourself 20 years from now. It’s your anniversary, you’re flipping through your wedding album. You notice the tear in his eye when he saw you walk down the aisle; you see the goosebumps on her skin when she finally heard “you may kiss the bride.” I want to bless you with these altars of remembrance. I want you to feel it all again. May these photographs bring to your remembrance all that the Lord has done, and may you fall more in love with Him, and one another – every time you look at them.

Loving People

Before being your photographer, I am your friend. This way I am able to visually tell your story, honest to who you truly are. If our relationship is authentic, the photos will show. Human connection is what separates powerful photographs from average documentation. It’s not my thing to say “3, 2, 1, look at the camera and smile” — that wouldn’t do your story justice. How would such images reflect your personality and your spirit? Fabricated moments won’t make your heart skip a beat! So at the core of what I do – is simply loving people. It is through relationship that I gain access to capture your most vulnerable and sacred moments. This really is the secret sauce. Wedding photography is 95% relational, and 5% technical.

Limited Availability

I used to shoot 40+ weddings a year. I soon realized that it wasn’t fair to my couples because I wasn’t able to serve each one with my whole heart and full strength. Now I intentionally limit my bookings to 15 per year in order to serve each one of my clients with excellence, giving you my full attention. Once I commit to documenting your love story, I become your devoted companion long before your wedding day, remaining a steady presence throughout the entire planning process. I will be your friend, your counsellor,  your shoulder to lean on. And hopefully, a friend to your family even before your new chapter begins.

You may be wondering…

  • None of my clients are models or have prior professional experience being in front of the camera. It is my job as your photographer to set you at ease and allow you to be fully yourself during a photo session.

  • Contact me and let’s go for a coffee. If we both see that this is a good fit, I’ll book your date in my calendar as soon as I receive your 50% deposit.

  • My turnaround time is 4-8 weeks depending on the season.

  • For weddings, I deliver about 100 images per every hour that I spend with you. For other sessions, I deliver about 50 images.

  • Through an online gallery service, Pic Time, where you’ll be able to view your gallery, share with friends, download high resolution files, as well as order prints delivered to your door.

  • I have a package for short elopements, however I book these no more than a month in advance.

Also, at every wedding that I’ve been to, the most treasured moments happened outside the ceremony hour. It’s often the overlooked things like getting ready in the morning and suddenly the dad cries when seeing you in your dress for the first time; it’s the intimate slow dance in the late hours of the evening as the two of you can finally hold each other tight and share that surreal moment together. My job is to fully preserve the feelings and memories of your day. Only documenting the ceremony isn’t really my thing.

  • I know photoshop inside-out and backwards, but I will only be using this tool to remove visual distractions that take away from the story. Removing wrinkles, birthmarks, and such is against my philosophy. I want to capture the real you, not a magazine cover version of you.

  • Nope.

  • I have been shooting weddings professionally since 2016, and at this time I shot over 70 celebrations.

  • The deposit is non-refundable however if you are looking to move your booking and I have the date available, we’ll make it work at a 25% applied rescheduling fee.

  • Lord forbid, but, if a highly unlikely circumstance were to happen, an earthquake, severe illness, etc., I will do everything in my power to summon a photographer of comparable quality whom I fully trust to cover for me. Otherwise you will have your money back.
